Hi melodie, just noticed nobody answered. Zram works fine, I have set it up on all antiX stable and sid
systems, both for myself and others. One effect of less swapping is less writes on SSD, that meaning less
wear.
for any readers with less technical knowledge.
SSDs have non-volatile memory. They become less reliable with time since the memory cell transistors wear
out, meaning lose their charge-holding capacity. With growing usage the drives become less reliable.
By default, SSDs come with a limited lifespan. I often read about lifespan of over 10 years, that is not my
experience, seeing many drives fail much earlier.
