I just checked and man section 2 includes fundamental system calls and my antiX copy doesn’t have any specific pages; instead they can be seen as references from other pages. Section 3 has function calls to fundamental features. Some classic ones are variations on various forms of input and output functions, variations on get (input) and put (output). There are numerous, much newer functions about threaded processes – pthread calls, and other parts of the Standard C library (libc).

Using the same on-line manual, I went to section 2; it has things like chown, chmod, chroot, mknode, mkdir, etc.
