Looks to me like an issue with the graphics drivers in use.
Please check:
$ sudo dmesg $ sudo inxi -zv8 --za --zvWindows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

As Robin noted hopefully a driver issue.
Use a fresh antiX Full version, On the boot screen please select advanced options
You have a choice of two kernel versions please test with the alternate kernelDo you see the same problem with both Kernels.

This is what I get as the result. I’m not quite sure what it means, however, when I turned my computer off for a few hours and turned it on again, the problem completely disappeared! Baffling.

I had to replace the inverter on a Panasonic CF-48 because of dim screen issues.
Worked fine after replacement.Sometimes I drive a crooked road to get my mind straight.

You bring more devices that are close to “end of life” BACK to life!
I wish at times I was better at such things. Much larger server systems,
with LOTS of room in the chassis are systems I can replace components.
To a somewhat lesser degree, I’ve had success with desktop units too,
but the last time I did something to a laptop – my Dell Inspiron 5558
I DID have success, but a 5-10 minute job took me AT LEAST a few HOURS,
if not longer, to complete and all I did was replace a HDD with a SSD;
that’s IT! Conceptually very simple, and I completely understood what
to do. Getting my coordination between my eyes and my hands was another
matter altogether! I did it, but it took orders of magnitude longer than
necessary to complete.Long, long time ago (before Miss American pie) I was able to change my
own oil on my recent vintage autos. I quickly learned to GOTO the mechanic
or the dealer to get the first oil/lube/filter job done because the
factories often power those oil filters in place instead of gently hand
tightening them. After trying to do that, I went to a few of those
places promising a ten minute oil change! Half hour later, and sometimes
a discount on the next change, they destroyed the old filter but got it
off and replaced it; at least this fella learned something – sometimes it’s
better to let others struggle, and pay them well for a job well done!In your case, you appear to know what you are doing!
