    Hi abc-nix,
    I deleted ~/.alsaequal.bin and was able to start the volume control from
    the terminal. I have no idea what was wrong with that file, it is not plain text.

    After a remaster and reboot I now have a newly created ~/.alsaequal.bin and the
    volume control working as expected.
