    I prefer to define keyboard shortcuts instead of icons that populate my desktop.
    Could be an alternative for more spartan desktops.

    You can click the Settings button (the wheel-ish icon in the pane just below the video), select Subtitles -> Auto-translate and your language.
    This may not always work (or the translation may be garbled) but it often helped me with videos I would not understood at all.
