Sorry if my post was being typed while Robin posted his last post above.
In many systems the “Free Choice” might alternately have been called “Advanced” because it allows the advanced users the “full control” as Robin called it to decide what they want regardless of what the default auto-select routine would have offered for that application’s selection options. If I recall, it works like the original application where it assumes the user knows which application they want to use that’s able to do the processing for that type of file or task.
Let me know if the fixed version works correctly (using your test procedure), and I can retest it on my base test machine as well if there is any question.
