I’m using my Privacy Edition now, and among the updates today were code and code-insider; code is virtually the same as Visual Studio Code, and code-insider is equivalent to a nightly build of the Code base. I looked and they are really active at working on this editor, resolving defects and even finding and resolving leaks.
I don’t use it as an every day tool but I decided a while back to try it out because it is one of the most commonly used code editors, it’s multi-platform and it works pretty well on reasonably current versions of Linux.
Yesterday I used a version of Privacy Edition that was only 1-2 days old to reinstall a system on my old Lenovo Thinkpad X201. These code versions are among the packages that really hung up the work on the older system, so as a result of that I have to conclude that this is a tool for modern development systems. Still, it’s pretty solid software; I got rid of it on that old system though and I cannot recommend it for such systems. Here on my newer, more powerful Thinkpad T14 it runs great and it’s definitely a cutting edge development editor.
