I am running live without persistence on a stick at the present time.
I don’t have a persistent drive set up right now; I can try that
along with the 5 series kernel when I bring out the older Dell, which
will allow me to run either 5 or 6 kernel, still 64-bit, and I can
create a persistent partition and do more tests there; don’t want to
do that on this main system, at least not yet, but I will get to testing
more, probably tomorrow.
Other things I’ve been able to do: change the theme settings, that’s all
good as it was before, at least with the few I’ve tried.
UPDATE: changed themes to go through at least one in each theme letter
A through T and they all worked, so that’s another plus.
I STARTED the antiX installer and it started up fine; I chose to stop
it at this point; I may install an image on another test system later,
but at least the antiX installer image is there and it appears to work.
It looks like there are several wallpapers present; I changed one, then
changed back and it’s fine, at least marked each one and looked at them
and each one is present.
The Basic IceWM Settings Manager is in good shape and appears to be
working as before.
I was able to set and alter clock time and formats fine.
I used the IceWM toolbar tool that was built in one of our
recent releases and it worked live nicely; I added several
things to the toolbar and I’ll check them out.
I was able to mount one of my main antiX distros so I can
copy stuff here; if I enable persistence and play with this
later it should be quite interesting.
That’s it for a while; it’s near dinner time and my
wife will probably want me to spend time with her soon.
Good start! More from me on this tomorrow. As usual,
it’s pretty darn good for a very first Alpha build!
