@ProwlerGr Thank you for raising this to the Debian team. Whether they listen or not is quite another matter.
Way back when Debian decided to go the systemD route, there was NOT a clear agreement among the team, but apparently there were enough “votes” to move that way anyway. Also, as you’ve indicated, their “claim” for some time was to keep available, so at “some level”, support the existence and possible option to choose other init alternatives, but clearly the actual commitment to that principle or “words” has also fallen off.
I guess I’ll post here because I don’t want to spam or hijack the other thread with this topic.

Do remember that an entire branch divided from Debian to form Devuan, though you probably also know that our own antiX project has done far more than Devuan or any other Debian alternative effort has done to keep the options open.
It is sad to admit that I believe you are right.
Looking back, I was a Devuan user (before converting to antiX) & I did submit my first s6 spin for Devuan into their forums before posting my spins here, but it attracted much less interest there.
Once I posted my Devuan spin here I received a lot of genuine interest from the antiX community & active encouragement from @anticapitalista which led me to create my first antiX respins and the rest is history….
