When I run persistence and I want it to be “similar to the installed version”, remembering settings, etc. and behaving as close as possible to my “regular version”, I use one of the “persist” settings; the one that recently worked well for me was persist_all. The way I typically work, frugal doesn’t work the way I prefer; other people tend to love it, but based on what you’re saying, I’d either choose persist_all or one of the choices with “persist” in the name. If you choose “persist_all” I think it’ll do what you want. If not, experiment with the other persist settings OR describe what you used and what happened and one of us will try to help out more.
