(d) to use less “power”
This isn’t as obvious for newer generations of kernels,
but if you compare version 4 to version 6 kernels,
there’s a LOT that has changed:
The version 6 kernels have much better security,
support newer devices, improve high speed throughput,
but all of that comes at a cost: the kernels are much
larger, use power, etc.
The Version 4 kernels, which I most recently tested
on my Dell Inspiron 5558 still work, they use a LOT
less power, work with systems incapable of handling
a lot of resources, but unfortunately they are no
longer supported; as far as I know, the 5.10 kernel
is now the oldest long term kernel supported.
As for the 5.10 kernel, it also consumes fewer resources
than a newer Version 6 kernel and with antiX 32-bit,
it’s the only antiX kernel included. There is no
Version 5 kernel with 32-bit systems.
Is there anything we haven’t covered thoroughly or
accurately?
