I have never seen the issue you describe on antiX with Rox Icewm, init Runit thats all I use.
If the issue stops when compositing is off use without it.
To help you and us please check whether the issue occurrs running live with a fresh antiX full
made from a sha256 sum ensured ISO.
Bad downloads can and do do occurr and cause the strangest issues.
Does the issue appear. if no turn on compositing which is/was an experimental feature
most people do not use as it slows the system somewhat.
If flickering re occurrs the culprit is clear
If unclear pls make sure you have latest BIOS set to default. If you are in the present
extreme summer heat you may be experiencing hardware effects such as cpu gpu overheat and
throttling. That is presently an issue for many persons as air temperatures reach or exceed
design temperatures for given computer models.
OT, Laptop cooling pads are sold out in many areas.
Without details of your system and changes you have made to antiX we are left guessing.
