Hi pun intended, is your hardware now working as it should as well as no flickering screen.
If yes job done.

The best kernel for any machine is the one which works and if possible is supported or patched for
known exploits, the one you now have is.

Newer kernels have newer drivers, older drivers are removed to try and limit kernel size growth.
I see no sense in spending a week or more examining differences between two kernels.

Your hardware is not defective, antiX works, we found the issue is kernel/driver related, my job is
