Thanks for you support and recount of your experiments which I also looked at in your blog.
You know, that Samsung belonged to my wife who passed away on June 9th after battling a lung cancer for nearly four months.She never smoked but worked for 25 years in a closed environment office where all her companions smoked all day long. The oncologist classified her as a “passive smoker”. You may wonder why I’m tinkering with computers but I find that a way to survive the great pain of losing her. We were both divorced from previous marriages and spent nearly 34 very happy years together.
The machine had antiX 21 with Openbox the same setup I currently use, only it was in Spanish (our local language as she didn’t speak or understand English). In fact the OS of my Dell was used for the installation and later upgraded to V 23.2 before writing the .iso. I tested that Samsung working good before the installation of Core- I agree with you that its disk should be reformatted but don’t really know how to do it. Will Google out for a solution but cannot imagine how to erase that error message. I’ve read several articles on grub repair but still fail to see how to do it.
I’m very pleased with my full antiX in the Dell and even more to have been able to install my favorite WM Openbox, but the challenge of a custom minimal installation is very appealing so I’ll keep on trying for that.
Your help is much appreciated as well as that of the many other members that chime in. It may take some time and effort but I’m sure I’ll eventually reach my goal.
