I am using ~/.config/FreeTube which is consistent with the documentation. Deleting the directory will delete settings, history, playlists, profiles, and subscriptions databases. Assuming the “lingering issues” is not one those, you could backup then restore the databases to preserve your installation. Or just delete it all if you don’t care. 🙂
