When you are mounting any file system, as far as the mount command itself is concerned, it doesn’t matter what the directory name is for the target – /media, /mount, /mnt – when I’m manually mounting other filesystems, most of the time I repeatedly use /mnt simply because it’s available to me.
The only reason to use other names would be because a particular tool uses a specific directory and manages the creation (and/or removal) of that directory; otherwise it makes no difference at all; it simply has to exist.
