My main topic here was introducing a tool that the community may find useful (and then I may need to continue work on it).
Yes, grep (in source code) is an advanced tool, but even just trying the program helps a lot in translations. I was just giving some ideas. If they are not useful, that’s it, sorry. Honestly, “translating blindly” did not sound very good, that’s why I wanted to list these. When I started with antiX in 2022, for me it was very hard to identify all programs, find them, try them, understand them, and then translate them. That’s why I made “tmcontext”. (I spent long time on the FAQ trying to figure out things, e.g. I never used a Live before, other than System Rescue CD rarely. 😉 )
And that’s why my tool has the description of “how to find the program”. For example this says: https://tmcontext.cmsbazar.hu/antix-linux/set-time-and-date “Applications -> antiX -> Date and Time”. or this https://tmcontext.cmsbazar.hu/antix-linux/splash-select says: “Command: splash-select”.
So yes, I understand it’s not easy. And especially for those who do not speak English, because even if you start the program, it’s foreign. So maybe you cannot even navigate around the program to see what it does exactly. Then maybe that is why you “translate blindly”.

I am thinking that you could see my “tmcontext” tool extra useful because you can see the whole program IN PORTUGUESE in advance, before even translating a word. How? Just open e.g. the SYSLINUX page https://tmcontext.cmsbazar.hu/antix-linux/antix_boot_syslinux , and press the browser’s Translate Webpage function. (Attached picture.)
This could help to resolve confusion with some features. The “Up” and “Down” are not very important case here, but they are perfect EXAMPLES of what can go wrong without seeing in context.
If someone wants to try this tool with a program, I’ll load it. I will update these antiX tools in it too.
I’m sad I cannot do tooltips (for antixscreenshot2 translation), maybe I could find a solution in ImageMagick for this, or something… e.g. take a lot of automatic screenshots while moving the mouse, and then merge them into one picture where all toooltips are visible. (I had the same problem with GoldenDict, which also has tooltip on everything.)
@abc-nix Thanks for your help. Yeah, maybe my wording is not always good, especially if it goes via the MACHINERY that I hate. 🙂 I think it makes my text worse than other’s text, because we hate each other (I mean, machine translation and me.) (Yet, again, Machine will totally screw up this sentence I’m sure. I’m a guy BTW, thx. 😉 )
