I photographed parts of the system, but my desktop DPI is brutally high and it looks bad as a result. I don’t want to upset anyone with it, so I’m not doing it anymore (with exceptions).
Just a hint. Have you tried antiXscreenshot2 for this task already? This has precisely for these cases a Thumbnail option, with which you can scale the image down (or up) by whatever percentage needed, automatically before saving. (Read Tooltips in this section when carefully hoovering over the GUI elements to learn how things work therein.) Since the scaling in this tool always is created from a lossless copy, even when the target format is lossy, it should look not too bad in the result and save lots of time for manually downscaling afterwards.

Sorry for that. I merely told you the path I personally apply to tackle with obstacles of that kind (and be assured, I know perfectly what you are talking about, for years meanwhile. Still laughing…) This doesn’t by any means need to fit for you the same. Find your own way. And: Lass dich davon nicht verdrießen oder unterkriegen. That’s what counts in the end. Aufstehen, Krönchen richten, weitermachen. Never let you stop by stupid machines.
