    THANK YOU everybody! Appreciate the explanations of your choices.

    I’m going to make a separate bootable cli CORE stick as my recovery / utility tool if nothing else for stuff like this. That way I’ll reduce any confusion between which is the boot device, source device, and target device. I tend to bork things outsmarting myself. 🙂 And if X is on board, I’m tempted to play, so CORE will help keep me focused. 🙂

    And maybe jazz it up with some dialog boxes for choices between 1M and 4M etc. Like 1M for the inexpensive micro-sd slow cards, and 4M for higher end usb sticks. Your explanations here really helped for a nifty project idea. Like since I never trust brand new card partitions and formatting, I do it anyway with Gparted before I stash them for later use.
