As a permanent noobie, I greatly appreciate the contributions of others such as olsztyn and Xunzi. Thanks to both of you.
Years ago, I installed Sid on one of my computers and shockingly (to myself) I have been able to keep it going without major failure. I do have a stable install (antiX22–>23) on my newest computer which I use for most “important” matters.
I have not tried Debian in years, since getting with antiX.
I do understand that the new Debian (Debian13) will be a base for a new antiX (antiX-25), although I don’t remember if a name has been selected for it. I apologize for not trying the alpha version yet. I believe the feedback from others that I have seen in the alpha threads have been valuable and do wish to contribute, but haven’t got around to it yet.
**My main point is (writing as a noobie) that extra threads on a single topic have been a fact of life on antiX and I don’t see them as really bad things. Sometimes, they illuminate different aspects of things that are helpful.
(It certainly would be nice if all threads touching on different aspects of a particular issue/question/problem/topic could be linked automagically, so a person seeking info on that thread would be able to find all the related ones. But that is not something I know how to setup…)
