PDP-8
So what’s happening in all the world of puppies? There are so many based upon a “woof” or derivitave of that build system.
For me, I concentrate on the JWM window-manager types, specifically the Debian based ones, but there are plenty of choices. Here is an overly-simplified observation.
BookwormPup. 32 and 64 bit. Much underhood work for desktop integration based on Rox/pinboard.
TrixiePup. 32(retro) and 64 bit. At download time, one chooses between legacy or wayland. Take your pic. Desktop functionality has moved beyond Rox to SpaceFM instead. I happily have no problem using either file-manager for desktop functionality, but for some, decades of Rox use may be hard to overcome. GTK2 stuff is just becoming crusty sadly. But of course bits still work in the meantime. 🙂 I evaluated and run legacy(xorg) 64. Maybe wayland in the future.
VanillaDpup. Very forward looking. No iso’s, only distributed in the img format (not a big deal). Lots of underhood differences to the former.
EasyOS. Barry’s doing his thing, and this pushes secure containers and so forth to the forefront.
I have nothing bad to say about any of them, I like (and have run) them all and what sets them apart from each other. ALL the ideas are valid. It’s a bounty of choice for the end-user!
