    My last two workstations and laptops were AMD GPUs. I have several others with 10xx and 20xx nvidia GPUs. The nouveau drivers perform poorly and the proprietary drivers work well but eventually there is a breaking update. Ignoring my disgust over several of nvidia’s business decisions, I just got tired of having to repair installs due to missing or broken kernel modules after major updates.

    I can compile the kernel and the modules but with AMD GPUs it just works out of the box. Unfortunately, going all AMD limits your options with laptops.
