Tried DEMO and ROOT and the only LOG-IN that works is root
Something is wrong ~~ wrong in what you’re doing or wrong in what we’re understanding as your meaning.
You should not login to desktop session as root user. If you do so, you can expect problems (damage) will result.
When (logged in as user and) you are prompted for a password, enter the password for your user account (not root account).
