    Yup, that looks like the culprit, /etc/init.d/elogind was set as not executable. Let me set that as executable and re-try, but I’ll bet it will all be working again.

    UPDATE – Nope, I was wrong. The boot time error went away, but all the protonvpn-app startup errors remain and the XFCE Shutdown and Restart buttons are still grayed out and nonfunctional.
