Both the Republican and Democratic parties in the USA were some combination of lazy and crazy during the last presidential election.
For Americans, we can remember the media talking about “dementia Joe” and his figurehead VP, Kamala Harris. Neither of them were functional leaders and Harris ran for the Democrat position of President. We know that Trump ran and soundly defeated Harris.
While I can understand the outcome of the election because Trump was a known candidate, given his previous term in office, Harris was only known for fumbling with Biden and was unable to publicly speak clearly about any issue, so thanks to the laziness of both parties, we did not get a good opportunity to be led by anyone else.
I can understand the Republican position to some extent: nominating Trump against Harris was a no brainer – and it worked for them. Where it doesn’t “work” is that we have a leader who is divisive about numerous things and provides a very poor impression of the American people to others around the world. Unfortunately that’s the way the political machine frequently works, not only here, but in many other places too.
I would be very surprised if our next President is another Republican unless the Democratic Party completely falls asleep and does nothing moving forward.
A lot of the things going on in US politics is a regular topic of Chuck Baldwin, someone who writes weekly articles and has been critical of both parties for many years. His writing makes sense, but it’s less clear if he were ever to represent the country that he’d be representing the views of more than a small group of people either; he’s one on the super conservative end of the political spectrum. “Moderate” views typically end up being the ones chosen, for better or for worse.
