I came back to Doom Emacs, and as is often the case on a Monday, there were five minor updates. These updates rarely, if ever, affect the core editing capabilities, which have been stable for decades.
What changed today were file recipes in the “melpa” package. I looked up what the melpa package does and was interested: – it’s a package manager within the search and edit capabilities of Emacs if you can believe it! So when people joke about Emacs being “an operating system”, it’s not as far off as the joke suggests! I have no idea how to use it, but it’s another one of those interesting features. You may not need it for years and years, but some day there may be some crazy situation in which it could come in handy, and there it is!
So once again, Doom Emacs contains numerous things; some of which I know how to use, and many others that I don’t even know are there, or how to use them. That’s always been the case with Gosling Emacs and GNU Emacs. LOTS I don’t know, but it’s never let me down with whatever I may need.
