This is precisely the very package I had and have to remove from all antiX live sticks, since it blocks apt frequently. Seems to be a very poorly designed piece of software for which nobody really cares, least the manufacturer…
As a workaround, I guess we need some kind of routine, checking the hardware automatically at boot whether this package is really needed, and then only install it from a stored .deb package at first live boot on these devices, not bothering all the other antiX users with it.
Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.
