If anybody speaks english and french, maybe someone can translate.
It depends on the model of the Canon scanner or ‘multifunction’ HW (printer + scanner) which command has to be used.
There are two versions of Canon ScanGear so, after the install, you would start them either with ‘scangearmp’ or with ‘scangearmp2’.
If one doesn’t know what one has installed, simply trying both commands is the easiest way to check.
Important thing is to turn on the scanner or printer/scanner first since they will shut off automatically, but not turn on automatically when needed, as opposed to usage under the Windows (under Windows, you would open ScanGear with scanner still turned off, which would automatically turn on after press on ‘Scan’).
Otherwise, I can only say that both methods are working fine — scanning with ScanGear and with SimpleScan — including scaning over WiFi.
SimpleScan has a kind of ‘lag-bug’ — upon start, it’ll regularly say — no device found.
Short time after, one can start using it. That’s because it needs some time to ‘find’ the scanner in local NW.
Actually the same could happen when scanning with Canon ScanGear — it also does search upon every start and one has to wait 1/2 min sometimes.
