Captain Stall
Some observations about beta-2:
* ISO on a usb stick runs and installs just fine on MacBookAir7,2 (13″,2017)
* the installer doesn’t have a keyboard option for “Apple (laptop)”, though the installed system does.
* I had an issue with the clock: before booting from the live ISO, in “Advanced Options” I selected “hwclock=UTC” so that once booted, the time zone selected would adjust it correctly to my local time. When I installed, I checked the box to save live session changes, but after booting the installed system, the clock was wrong by the number of hours my time zone is offset from UTC.
* this is a personal preference: Conky’s blue “color8” value of 77ccff doesn’t have enough contrast over the new wallpaper and so is hard to see.
* conky runs at login in the live session, but does not in the installed session. I feel like I’ve seen that this is a long standing problem – if that’s the case then it would be nice to get it fixed and I’d be happy to help.
* is there a “power manager” application like xfce-power-manager used in MX that could be installed by default? I would like the MacBook to “sleep” when I close the lid.
* the right-click-on-desktop menu has icons in the live session, but not the installed session. I thought it might be related to the broken ~/.icewm/menu-applications link, but it seems to be something else.
That’s all for now. I do still hope to start checking out Package Installer for what needs updating.
