@sybok, the t440s is not painfully slow when it has a second ram card and ssd and runs antiX.
4GB RAM is soldered, adding another 4 is a very good idea as it enables dual channel.
Definitely fit an SSD, together with the second RAM bank it makes a big difference.
As far as I am aware most of the 440s series have an M2 ssd slot. if that is the case
in the presetly discussed device I would use it together with the HDD. Rotating drive as a
backup device for data, M2 ssd for the operating system.
The lower end version was designed and distributed as a students device. It is fine for that.
Lightweight, decent keyboard ok screen.
Not a device designed for high performance, more emphasis on endurance robust construction and
low power usage.
