PART SOLUTION:
Way back when, while looking at “Security on Linux”, I first came upon the names Armor and SELinux.
Somewhere in there I heard or read that prepared profile collections usually were in Complain Mode.
Only now did I think of actually checking this particular set of profiles:
kon@kon-730QFG:/var/log$ sudo apparmor_status
apparmor module is loaded.
153 profiles are loaded.
54 profiles are in enforce mode.
/usr/bin/man
…and checked kern.log for the relevant time (screenshot), and saw DENIED in the fifth Line from the bottom, which otherwise contains the same stuff as the screenshot in my previous message.
It seems that to delve deeper into AppArmor’s inner workings is more necessary than I’d thought – if only to find ot what exactly screws up Live USB Maker.
