In my case the reason that runit was failing was because I added a file called down to several of the services that were generating logs; that stops the logs, but it also disables any restarting of the services, so I got rid of it and it’s back to normal.
With my new test on the beta 2 with Nouveau, I ran the updater. This time it completed with no errors. Had the same 3 warnings, but did not see the fatal line. Rebooted into each init successfully. What is the phrase: blazingly fast. So doubtless my issues with the beta 2 with NVIDIA is I was probably supposed to add something somewhere to tell the inits to look for the NVIDIA driver.
