For what it’s worth, I used to have a Dell Dimension 4100 desktop, also from the early 2000s era. I ran some tests a long time ago using various window managers and a terminal to get stats. All of them consumed around 60 MB +/- 2-4 MB. Back then IceWM did not have as many features as it does now and I believe that I captured a 58 MB initial footprint, coming in even less than the efficiency of Fluxbox! That’s no longer true for any 64-bit configuration. Occasionally I can configure one just under 220 MB. The hardware requires that much more but the CPU and memory of the newer units has no problem handling it.

By the way I tried Beta 2 on most of my systems and they’re all fine with it, but I wasn’t focused on memory consumption, I was looking mostly at invocation and WiFi recognition and it was working.
