That thing is some S3 video called Unichrome done for VIA and needs via which, however, depends on DRI which means Mesa and I’d bet money they dumped it from their source tree long ago…which means digging in their “Amber” tree and going backwards to figure out the last one that had it. I don’t have time for that right now.
Needs kernel module via.ko now, used to be openchrome xorg / xf86 driver.

StoneMonkey: If you want to take a hipshot, take Brian’s advice and go back a couple antiX revs or choose whatever it was that’s keeping tinyX alive–I think it was Puppy. That should run and just fly. Watch your security with that stuff, though, if you are “front-facing” the world. As a rule, hardware support is best when using contemporaneous software.
Take pictures of the screens if you can’t get the text out. Please don’t take offense, but look at making it easier to help and try to provide what’s been asked for
(inxi -Fvx -r) and /var/log/Xorg.0.log and dmesg and the usual stuff. If nothing runs, keep going backwards in software until something does. Then you can view the logs and learn what worked and compare with what doesn’t and go off digging in software source trees
