I tested the script in the internal virtual terminal, too.
And it runs on my machine without problems with the default commands you are using.

So I guess it is a matter of the preferences or the way you are looking at the potput.

1. set the option “Execute programs in the VTE”
2. set the “Message Windows” option
3. at the bottom you should see the Message Windows
4. scrool to the Terminal

Now you should see the output there. It works for me without any changes in the biuld command options
