Hi @Stevesr0 It’s not you who has a defective cogwheel, it’s youtube 🙂 . This is a known issue, and we are working on that. Youtube is pretty inconsistent in which videos are dubbed and which not, and which get subtitles and which not. The most likely explanation for the unpredictable behaviour is: Its ai algorithms decide based on demand. The more people with a specific language setting in their browser request the videos in their native language, the more likely youtube will create the missing dubbing. Means: Only if people try to access the videos in e.g. English (or from English localised PCs, or having set English as their preferred youtube language), the dubbing might appear in the end for all the videos.
In the meantime: We are working on this issue, exploring other options. Maybe we can create from Marcelos original pt_BR subtitle files a template, which can be translated manually at Transifex to English and the other languages. Then the result can be uploaded to youtube, so at least subtitles would be available reliable. While generally possible, creating an additional dubbed audio track in English and other languages for the videos manually is a pretty time consuming task. We tried that already using Kdenlive with good success, but the proper syncing of the language with the original video takes hours if not days: you have to precisely match the translation with the original audio track, which can be really tricky, since all languages use different wording and different length of sentences to express the same facts… This is why youtube uses AI for that job, with convincing result, way better than what we can do manually. But it seems there is no way to tell youtube directly: hey, this is an educative video meant for international auditory, please provide the dubbing, at least to English, since half of the world can’t understand Portuguese (and another half can’t understand English). Same issue with many videos by Dolphin Oracle, vice versa here: Only some of them are dubbed to languages other than English, while the US English he speaks is really hard to understand, even for me, so many of his great videos are literally unusable for non-US people, due to the language barrier.
In short: We are aware of this issue and already trying to solve that once forever. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by youtube acting inconsistently and unpredictable when its about dubbing and subtitling.
