@Brian Did I miss something? Where did you get the prospected updates from, for your testing?
Gotcha: there were no updates or perspective init related updates, though since RC 1 there have been two or three of them along the way and I DID perform those updates without any surprises or issues.
Another thing to note is this: when there are init updates, the MAIN init code (in any of the inits) has not been updated at all, with the possible exception of dinit and 66, but those changes even for those relatively “newer” inits were done long before this project started.
Changes to the init packages have not altered the process initiation section of any init; what has changed are minor updates to the service manager functions for various inits. For instance, the fore-mentioned dinit seemed to have problems when managing removable services; I just ran some tests today and now those work just fine, so either I had some goofed up configurations or they made some improvements; anyway the changes that have been implemented are those types, not anything that would interfere with the boot process or interacting directly with the system kernel; that stuff is very solid.
