I’m a bit confused by all the comments on how to translate the HTML text.
Transifex doesn’t like HTML. I’m finding it hard to understand what I can and can’t do because of Transifex. It’s not your comments that are the problem; it’s how Transifex reacts. I’ll explain with an example below.
Observation:
It is essential to work in Transifex with raw editor mode enabled.
In my experience, many translators do not use this feature.
If I want to translate “Mean and Lean” in sentence no. 2 of the antix 26 FAQ – Home file, without changing the rest of the code, Transifex tells me that I’ve modified the HTML code. That’s really not very reassuring!
I’m happy to help, but I’ve always translated HTML pages in text editors and never in Transifex. You can check the HTML translation file directly in your preferred web browser. You can download the file from Transifex to check the layout by opening the HTML file in your browser. I’m already aware of the issues with the French. Now I need to understand what’s wrong with the French! Why does the layout of my page in French look different from the English version? Why is there a punctuation mark appearing all on its own right in the middle of the screen?
I’ve noticed that Transifex has used the translation memory by fetching sentences from ‘antiX 26 desktop’. It’s a complete disaster!
You’ve done a tremendous job breaking down the HTML pages to upload them to Transifex. It’s a real painstaking task! I know that adding comments takes ages too.
