antiX-cli-cc helped me get started with live-usb-maker. Nice tools, but the defaults use the entire USB stick. No room left for me to create and manage an extra partition. However …
live-usb-maker –size 20
says use 20% of the stick, and leave the rest for me.
If you have a good usb stick (meaning not a fake one, e.g. claiming it is 2Tb stick bought for cheap) then you can also make usb with a leading usb-data partition, with which you can do whatever you want, such delete and create other partitions of your choice.
However (hopefully in exceptional cases) when you want to rescue (to some degree) a fake stick, which you cannot return then size= parameter is the only way I know to make such stick usable, effectively reducing its size to the actual (not fake) size, such as 32Gb, instead of fake 2Tb.
