    thx for the replies! Here is the progress I’ve made so far…

    you see fd0 is listed under devices

    error message

    this is the error message from udevil whether there is a floppy in the drive or not. either way. However, if there IS a floppy in the drive, it will access the drive and try reading the disk, but still this error message. Plus the drive light remains on until I remove the floppy, at which time it will go out.

    I would really like to get this working in AntiX. right now I have to reboot into grub and select my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS installation where floppys work perfectly. I just have to copy files to that partition while I’m in AntiX. But since “theoretically” linux still is supporting floppies, I’d like to get it working..

    antiX 26 Stephen Kapos 5.10.240-antiX.1-486-smp on a Pentium IV @ 2 Ghz and 2 GB of RAM. 2002 Gateway desktop. 140 GB hdd has "/" and 100 GB partition on 2nd drive has "/Home" using IceWM de. Dual booting with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on another partition.
