Have rechecked this moment on antiX 26 full 32 bit live, booted into runit mode, zzz-IceWM (all default, but added mount=all boot code for internal drive access), fully apt-upgraded and live-kernel-updated to the latest 686 antiX kernel available (on 32 bit there are only 5.10 series).
1st: set your device to MTP protocol and allow file access via USB in its settings.
2nd: connect it to the PC/Notebook
3rd: check in dmesg and lsusb that it has been recognised properly. (You obviously did this already; it won’t show up in lsblk)
Now, simply head for antiX Control Centre, section Hardware, where you will find Android Device Connect. Run it. It should ask you for your sudoer password, and then automagically open the device’s folder in zzzFM. At least here it does flawlessly, with an old android 8.1 smartphone.
There was no need to install anything additional.

P.S.: For people using an idevice instead of an android: install the packages iphone-antix and idevice-mounter, then an additional entry with an i in it instead of an a will show up in the same section of control centre and allow you to mount your apple devices the same way. While the android device mounter is preinstalled, this apple stuff must be installed either on console using apt or simply from the antiX Package Installer, Control Centre section Software.
