    Jim, a.k.a. @wildstar84 there have been some significant differences between the runit implementation in previous releases and the implementation in antiX 26; check with @ProwlerGr and @anticapitalista, but I believe that the previous version of runit was limited in service offerings, and some of them may have been reworks, possibly from sysVinit; @ProwlerGr and @anticapitalista can confirm or correct this statement or amplify it appropriately.

    Frankly I would ditch the approach you took based on the differences in antiX 26. Again, others can provide better recommendations; I’ve used it as is and it’s a bit heavier than in the past, but more complete – for me it (runit) works as is very well.
