@c0pa To answer your question, usually it’s not necessary to explicitly add xorg configuration files. However, they are still available for situations like yours, where specific devices are not automatically recognized or fail to operate correctly, so whether this is the “best approach” or not isn’t the question; the question is whether it works or not. If it works, keep it; if it doesn’t work or stops working, change it. From what you say it works, so in your case, keep this entry intact (and maybe even save it somewhere – perhaps in a note) so that you can recreate it or modify it. In any case, if your cursor is back, that answers the question.
