Trash:
Maybe I fixed it amateur style: once I found the Trash-can where you said it was, thought I might try putting a COPY of that-one on the desk.
Don’t remember how but some folder with Trash-in-its-name appeared there, and rather scared me. But today I opened it, agreed to the option-question and there it was, a brand new trash-icon.
Tested it: I can put things in, when I open the can those things are there, and can be deleted. Don’t remember if I tested telling files to go there, but felt brave enough to delete the original non-working icon – the new one still worked.
Hope that when you have fixed this bug and send updates I haven’t messed things up with this!

On problem 2, the missing icon-link to the filemanager-folder: since the icon is missing from the desk, there is one constantly in the system- or task-tray (not sure what’s what). Maybe it is EITHER on the desk OR in the tray…
