Most likely fresh install. My last fresh-install was 14 years & 3 full Debian releases ago when I first switched to antiX from Mint. Never had any issues until Debian brought in all the t64 stuff & forced systemD into multiples more packages and it became impossible for me to continue updating Trixie/Testing over a year ago after numerous failed dry-runs & attempts on a test disk. Unfortunately Trixie seems to bring in a massive amount of change from Bookworm, so I’ve spent most of last week rebuilding all my customizations and tweaks (accumulated over many years) into a fresh install of antiX core, which eliminated a ton of built-up cruft including stuff I no longer use and stuff that no longer exists! I’m glad I started with core instead of full, which helped in getting only what I want without having to deal with all the other. This also allowed me to easily try xlibre, play around with runit, & find out that I don’t need a Cups server-daemon in order to print to my network printer, so I feel very confident and satisfied with the approach I took. Now just waiting for my new SSD to arrive in order to move it & my current /home partition over to become my new daily-driver!
