I looked this up and apparently it is a known problem for a long time.
If so, does anybody have any clue what causes the trouble and why this has never been fixed?
I have no use for this thing, since I have never bought any of these proprietary protected Video-DVDs not playing properly on Linux. So I’m not able to test that stuff. Recommended strategy: Consider any DVDs not playing as broken (possibly by design) and return them to the issuer.
Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.
