I had posted this before about high Xlibre AMD GPU MEM useage, but got little feedback, and no one mentions it. I suspect, because no one goes looking for it. The screenshot illustrates what happens on my laptop regardless of distro that Xlibre is installed on. I’ve tried all manner of xlibre changes and specifically targeting the amdgpu in antiX, MX-XFCE, MX_Flux or Archcraft, but nothing affects it. Whats more disturbing, and the sole reason I completely abandoned Xlibre, is even after closing all programs/windows, the GPU MEM useage allocation remains maxed at near 100%. Thats a big no. I will say that I didn’t have any performance issues, as the laptop chugged along happily regardless what I was doing. Since reverting back to Xorg, I’ve kept a special eye on GPU MEM. It never gets above 30-35% even after working with graphics, videos, or games … and appropriately after closing all those programs, GPU MEM drops and clears, as it should.
Timeshift was a great thing throughout all the testing and botched system changes I went through. No need for any messes that can’t easily be cleaned up.
I’d be very interested to hear from any other AMD users and what you see … please.
That screenshot shows you are using a systemd disro and not antiX.
Wouldn’t it be better to post the output from antiX instead?
