Robin, thanks for spending the time to address all this – it would be sad if it were something silly like age checks getting in the way, but not surprising for the UK these days.
After looking again I can confirm that antiX TV is in the XDG menus generated in FVWM, but I do get a bit frustrated with busy hierarchical structures – I get the same thing sometimes trying to find things in the contol centre, so that one was down to me! That is why I always make my own menu items with the things I actually use, and mostly ignore system menus when that is done.
Retrying without interrupting the channel reading, I let it complete. There was a stage when it said it was complete and the YAD dialogue went too wide for the screen. I recovered it using FVWM’s magical powers, and discovered it was actually still running! When it completed, I saw some very weird stuff (Afghani TV and “other country stuff” – see screenshot), but I clicked on BBC two, and nothing happened form there on.
/bin/bash aCSTV.sh -s is still in the process table, but there is no UI at this point so I need to kill & retry. Taking out a child process achieved this. ON retrying, there was a dialogue about “Excessive channel lists” (99 entries? – but there are only two pages of buttons), which went away.
Now, I have just got a channel called “GBNews” (well it IS news to me!), and watched it for a few seconds, so there is now a path to video! I will continue to investigate . . .
BTW, I found the operations manual PDF in my ~/.config after reading another post here. I see it is in the package list, but I don’t always read those for every package I use 😉
