If you can make the connection reliably and consistently with this method, nothing wrong with this. Whatever works is what’s right for you!
What Connman/CMST and Ceni do for you is similar, they just provide either a graphical interface (CMST) or a console menu (Ceni) in front of the calls to the lower level interfaces that you’re using. For whatever reason, perhaps the Connman daemon process is not functioning properly. I can’t imagine what is causing the problem with Ceni; that ought to work too. Still, as I said, if you’ve found a reliable solution, maybe it’ll stick; if not write a quick script to do the steps for you; that’s basically how the various tools had their origin, then other people created various interfaces – and that’s why there are so many different “solutions” to networking and many application programs.
