Okay, I think this is starting to make sense. When I was installing Proton VPN, it was kind of a pain because it requires systemd which antiX doesnt use. You can still use the VPN but had me to all kinds of stuff as a work around (you can’t use the proton GUI without systemd). I think that was when I was instructed to install network manager. I am a little new to Linux so I didn’t realize I was replacing how antiX managed the network (CMST). I don’t want to use another network manager; I want to use what came with antiX.
My goal is to have the CMST icon in the tray at boot where I can go and enable the VPN as needed.
Instead, connman is launching its window on the desktop at the boot, and it’s annoying because I have to close it after each boot.
I went into the settings and checked the following two boxes:
– “Enable Start Options from GUI (right hand pane)”
– “Start Minimized”
Unfortunately, connman is still launching it’s window at the boot up (while the CMST icon is in the taskbar). However, when I close the connman window, the CMST icon disappears.
How can I have just the simple CMST icon in the corner?
